December 25, 2019—Psalm 5:12

For you, LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor will you compass him as with a shield.
– Psalm 5:12

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

After reading this verse, I knew that the righteous are blessed by God and always live under God’s care and protection. I was deep in thought: God blesses the righteous, then what is expressed in those who are righteous? How does God define the righteous? One day, I read some words in a gospel book, “You will be called righteous because you are able to satisfy God, and because you accept God’s care and protection. In God’s eyes, all those who accept God’s care, protection, and perfection and who are gained by Him, are righteous and looked upon with cherishment by God.” “‘Righteousness’ does not mean giving alms, it does not mean loving your neighbor as yourself, and it does not mean not fighting, arguing, robbing, or stealing. Righteousness means taking God’s commission as your duty and obeying God’s orchestrations and arrangements as a heaven-sent vocation, regardless of the time or place, just like all that was done by the Lord Jesus. This is the very righteousness spoken of by God.” From God’s words, it is clear that we cannot be called righteous if we just give alms or get along with others in harmony. Rather, the righteous can at any time and any place accept God’s commissions thoroughly, remain free of any deals or requests, and obey all of God’s orchestrations and arrangements. Take Noah as an example. When God’s commission was entrusted to him, Noah could simply accept it, say nothing of reasons, and act entirely in accordance with God’s demands. He paid all the costs to build the ark without considering his own personal benefit, his loss or gain, and he received God’s salvation and blessings in the end. From this, we can see that those who can complete God’s commissions and satisfy Him with a God-loving heart are righteous in God’s eyes. Such people are approved of and blessed by God.
