Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

This verse teaches us not to deceive ourselves because God is not mocked. Many times we don’t fear God, never seek God’s will, but regard our own ideas as God’s will to practice. We believe that if we practice this way, we are able to be after God’s heart and approved by God. In fact, this attitude toward God is irreverent and deceiving ourselves. Just as the Pharisees defined the coming Messiah in their notions and imaginations. They believed that Messiah would surely come according to their imaginations. Was their waiting for the Messiah this way not deceiving themselves? Was it irreverent toward God? So when the Lord Jesus came to do His work, they condemned and resisted Him because it was not the Messiah they imagined. They even nailed the Lord Jesus to the cross, committed a heinous crime, and were punished by God. This verse is also a warning to us. If we believers in God don’t focus on seeking God’s will, but put God aside with our own imaginations and notions, then we will walk on the path of resisting God like the Pharisees. The latter part of the verse “for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap” tells us the path we walk depends on our choice. So it is of vital importance to make a right choice. So as Christians, how should we walk the right path of believing in God? God says, “If what you seek is the blessings of the flesh, and what you put into practice is the truth of your own conceptions, and if there is no change in your disposition, and you are not at all obedient to God in the flesh, and you still live in vagueness, then what you seek will surely take you to hell, for the path that you walk is the path of failure. Whether you will be made perfect or eliminated depends on your own pursuit, which is also to say that success or failure depends on the path that man walks.” God’s words tell us the most important thing for believers in God is to seek God’s will, practice according to God’s demands. Just like Peter, he spent his entire life seeking to love and obey God, and satisfy God’s will in everything. As a result, he achieved the supreme love of God and obey Him unto death. Therefore, we should walk the path of Peter in our belief in God. This is the right path that we should walk and this is approved by God.
