December 19, 2019—A Commentary on Luke 22:26

But you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that does serve.
– Luke 22:26

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

This verse has pointed out some ways for us to support and help brothers and sisters. God is carrying out His work with extreme patience and love. God not only requires us to put aside ourselves when we serve and help brothers and sisters, but also have patience and love for them. So, at any time, we must stand on an equal footing with our brothers and sisters, speaking to and acting heart-to-heart with them, then brothers and sisters will speak the words within their hearts to us. When we understand their practical difficulties, we can fellowship about God’s will according to their difficulties, so that we can help brothers and sisters. For example, when brothers and sisters encounter difficulties in their work, we can communicate how to rely on and look up to God, and help them with our practical experiences. When they suffer illness, we should encourage them and fellowship about God’s will, so that they do not misunderstand or complain about God. After our fellowship, brothers and sisters have a way to practice, and have a little understanding of God’s will. Only if we help and support them in this way can good results be achieved.
